Study Leave and Sabbaticals 
These are offered through TeachNZ and are designed to support the professional development of teachers, senior leaders and principals. There is a package of study awards, grants and sabbaticals to help you complete a qualification, take time off each week to study while teaching, move to another curriculum or subject area, or take time off to research a topic of interest. Applications for the 2019 Secondary Teachers', Senior Managers’ and Principals’ Study Awards, Sabbaticals, and Study Support Grants are now CLOSED. Prime Ministers Education Excellence Award 
These awards recognise and celebrate outstanding achievements in early childhood education, primary and secondary schooling. The awards focus on the work of groups, teams and partnerships in English, Māori, or Pasifika-medium. They highlight the combined effort needed to achieve improvement, equity and planned innovation. Categories for the awards are engaging, leading, teaching and learning, and governing. Our world-renowned Best Evidence Synthesis has shown that these are critical to the quality of education in any country.

National Aspiring Principals Programme
This programme concluded at the end of 2016 and has yet to be replaced. Instead, the MOE are offering leadership training through the Communities of Learning- Kāhui Ako.
