Jocelyn Hale

I am Deputy Principal at Paeroa College and have been in this role for 5 years.  My role is really varied which I am grateful for.  I currently teach Maths and a Gateway class. Prior to this I worked at Te Aroha College as the Network Administrator and Head of ICT.  After having this super busy position for a number of years I decided to change roles and become a Dean, Timetabler, responsible for Kamar and teacher of Maths.  Before this I was the Head of Business Studies at Elizabeth College in Guernsey.  I was however very fortunate to begin my teaching career at Hauraki Plains College teaching Maths.  To make things more interesting I had my first child during my first year of teaching!

I am married to Steve and am the proud mother to Boston (13) and Ella (8).

I have a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting and Commercial Law) from Auckland and Diploma of Secondary Teaching at Auckland College of Education.  In 2012 I was fortunate to be granted a year of study leave to complete my Masters of Educational Leadership through the University of Waikato. Having this time to reflect and refresh while studying has been really beneficial.

Before I started teaching I was an IT trainer in Australia and New Zealand.  I have a passion to see students become the best they can be - I enjoy using a range of emerging technologies. You can find me on twitter @josshale.  I have been a NASDAP representative for this area since 2013.  During this time I have led the redevelopment of the website.  I have also been part of the CNIDAPA Taupo conference organising committee for the past 5 years.  In 2015 I have been elected and acceot the role of Vice President of NASDAP.
